Rebecca Strickson joins POW for it's 10th birthday celebrations with her exhibition Women’s Hour...
4th - 30th March
Opening Night: 4th March, 6-9pm
Little Swift: Sunday to Thursday 12-10pm; Friday & Saturday 12-11pm
Rebecca Strickland's exhibition celebrates all the seasons of a woman’s life...and re-interprets the theme of Maiden, Mother, Crone in her unique illustrative style.
Inspired by the traditional imagery of trade union banners and protest placards, Rebecca Strickson’s work explores the power of community and collaboration. Using eye-popping, psychedelic palettes, bold and busy compositions, and fragments of typography, Strickson’s aesthetic harks back to the 1960s, the golden age of civil unrest and positive change.
Since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2002 and now based in Margate since 2019, Strickson has worked with a number of high-profile clients including Royal Mail, BBC, Channel 4, English Heritage, National Trust, Barbican Centre and Southbank Centre.
As well as illustration, Strickson creates large scale installations, embroidered banners and wall hangings. She facilitates and teaches workshops around the country, makes fun things happen at festivals and can always be relied on to be banging on about something.
