How do you become a Hitman? A sharp suit and 1,000 songs. That’s what earned New York City native Russell Alexander his moniker and made him the master guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the Hitman Blues Band.

Russell made a name for himself as a freelance sideman, working 25 nights a month. He flew all over the country playing numerous genres. “I got nicknamed the Hitman because I knew all the hits,” he said. But, he played blues for love. When he showed up for jams at the Chicago Blues Club, they would yell, “It’s Hitman Russ!”

His dream project became The Hitman Blues Band... 8 albums and countless tours later, thousands of fans confirm it was the right choice.
