A genre-melting night of live music at Where Else ? Featuring three upcoming bands and a DJ
Doors open 7pm
The Echograms' "bluegaze" sound hovers somewhere between modern indie and paisley underground, with blissed out walls-of-sound punctuated by soaring technical guitar solos. The exquisite guitar and understated vocals of singer and guitarist Claire Pitt-Wigmore (also of NO.TV) are perfectly accompanied by a tight and danceable rhythm section.
Charlie Hannah (also of Itchy Teeth) joins us with new project the Houseplants. With flute-driven arrangements, jazz-folk leanings, and theatrical storytelling, this set promises charm and surprises in equal measure.
Opening the night are Tony Westcliff and the Abominations — a new 4-piece vehicle for Westcliff’s more serious songwriting. Known for hyper-local satire-bombs like “Cliftonville is Not Really Margate” and “2 Ladiez”, Tony's new material lands somewhere between Elvis Costello and The Flaming Lips, lurching from cheekily Ronson-esque retro rnb into raw grunge.
The night is bookended by the ever-unpredictable DJs of Filth Collective (the minds behind HEXED! and FREAK OUT!) spinning deep cuts of ‘70s garage rock.
