Learn professional pattern drafting techniques for tailored garments in this one day masterclass at Turner Contemporary, focusing on key details of the lapel and shoulder line

10.30am - 4.30pm

This one day workshop led by creative pattern cutter, Timothy O’Sullivan, will introduce participants to professional pattern drafting techniques for tailored garments by focusing on key details of the lapel and shoulder line to create dynamic silhouettes.

The workshop is suitable for all levels of sewing / pattern cutting knowledge as our focus will be on discovering simple techniques used in the fashion industry which can then be easily adapted to any base pattern.

Morning Session: 10.30am – 1pm

Pattern Drafting: The Lapel – demonstration of professional drafting techniques followed by exploration and development of own design.
Pattern Drafting: The Padded Shoulder and Tailored Sleeve.
The Shoulder Pad: Demonstration of techniques to create your own shoulder pads.

Afternoon Session: 2pm – 4:30pm

Developing the pattern draft into a professional sewing pattern
Demonstration of techniques to create a calico 'toile' to test shape and fit using couture pinning techniques.
