A photographic exhibition which asks viewers to consider the reasons behind the creation of the work on display at The Margate School
Exhibition Open: 10am to 4pm
Private View: Thursday 9 May, 6pm to 8pm
Looking for Nothing is a series of photographs exploring the possibilities offered by the act of looking at what appears irrelevant but still exists, nevertheless.
As a photographic series, the work does not fit in any established photographic genres and does not provide any clear rational for its existence. Instead, Looking for Nothing investigates the differences between giving answers and asking questions as a method when creating work.
It encourages viewers to consider what the reasoning behind the creation of such images might be. In other words, by not presenting the work as illustrations to a preconceived theme or concept it gives space for the subjectivity and unpredictability that populates most of our lives to come through.
The exhibition invites all to join the author in the chain of thought triggered by the process of looking, observing, and deciding to photograph something.
