St John's, Margate, are delighted to welcome visitors to this historic church again this year as part of Heritage Open Days.
St John’s has been a place of worship since 1050. Points of interest include its Norman origins, a stone font dating from 1485, funeral hatchments bearing coats of arms, stained glass and a carved reredos. The young JMW Turner painted St John’s, and the gravestone of Mrs. Booth, his landlady, stands in the churchyard.
Refreshments are available to buy in the pop up cafe in the church.
