Alongside special guest Africa Daley-Clarke, Happy Reading Bookshop celebrates the life of true legend Benjamin Zephaniah by sharing his picture and poetry books...
About the book…
‘Nature Trail’ is a joy to read with small children. Written by legendary poet and performer Benjamin Zephaniah, and beautifully illustrated by the award-winning Nila Aye, it is an uplifting celebration of nature and the wonder of the world around us...
At the bottom of my garden, there's a hedgehog and a frog,
And a lot of creepy-crawlies living underneath a log . . .
All around us, from parks to gardens and flowerpots to pavements,
There's a world of wonder just waiting to be discovered.
Why not look a little closer and see what you find?
This joyful celebration of nature reminds us all to take a closer look at the world around us, and enjoy the wonder of nature wherever we find it. Packed with animals and minibeasts galore, this imaginative rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud.
Dr Benjamin Obadiah Iqbal Zephaniah was born and raised in Birmingham. He began performing poetry in his early teenage years, and left school aged 13. His first poetry book, Pen Rhythm, was published when he was just 22, and the next fourty years saw 13 poetry collections, six novels, five children's books and seven plays. He has 16 Honorary Doctorates and a wing in West London's Ealing Hospital named in recognition of his work. Benjamin was passionate about both local and global issues, and his work focused on themes including human rights and protecting the environment. He was widely considered to be among the first poets to address the climate crisis.
