Welcome return of this engaging delta blues and Indian folk fusion at Rosslyn Court in Cliftonville, Margate.
Doors 7pm, starts at 7.30pm
This is the third time Ajay Srivastav has played at Rosslyn Court because everyone thought that his songs are just lovely - entertaining, with depth and toe tapping tunes. Between songs, Ajay gives just enough information to allow us to understand aspects of them and understand what it iwas like for him growing up second generation Indian in this country and aspects of that fascinating culture.
Ajay Srivastav is a critically acclaimed musician who reflects the life and lessons learnt as a British born artist of Indian heritage, with uplifting songs of protest and change. His unique rootsy guitar style is layered with inflections of sitar and sarod. This ability to merge scales, and techniques from classical Indian music with slide guitar playing, are down to his continual search for commonality where there is difference. “The fusion happened inside me… what you hear is the sound of my varied experiences. Breaking down musical boundaries comes easy when you’ve spent your life living at the crossroads of different cultures.” He will be joined on the night with Ajeet Singh on Tabla.
Vinod Keral plays percussion, principally tabla. His precision and sensitive style enhances Ajay's songs, adding atmosphere and structure.
Rosslyn Court is a fully accessible and step-free venue, with a disabled toilet. Please let them know if they can support you in any other way!
