Artist and curator Kristen Healy established The Lido Stores in 2021, opposite the iconic Lido obelisk in Margate. Formerly an off licence and grocery store run by Healy’s father, The Lido Stores is one of several independent businesses reinvigorating Cliff Terrace, along with providing an artist run space to showcase some of the best emerging and established artists in the UK and Ireland.
Gallery 1 features a carefully curated display of original painting and sculpture by resident artists, many of whom are a part of the vibrant local creative community.
Gallery 2, an adjoining 10x9ft white cube, hosts an exciting exhibition programme that runs throughout the year. Gallery 2 features solo artists, guest curated group shows and two free to enter open calls, including the popular Lido Open whereby a guest judge awards the winner a solo show the following summer.
With a strong emphasis on contemporary painting, The Lido Stores promises excellent art with an anarchic edge.
