Litter picking and community group Rise Up, Clean Up, Margate teamed up with town resident and acclaimed artist, Louis Masai to bring creatives, commerce and the community together in a bid to make Margate plastic free.
Dubbed the ‘Rise Up Residency’ 17 contemporary artists from around the world descended on Margate and Cliftonville in autumn 2022 (25th September - 2nd October), to create multiple painted murals, each with a message dedicated to raising awareness of ocean conservation and the issues caused by plastic in and near our oceans.
The murals are due to be on display for around 5 years.
