Founded in London in 2003 by Carl Freedman, the Gallery established itself quickly with a critical and curatorially-driven programme. It represents emerging British and international artists including Nel Aerts, Billy Childish, Bianca Fields, Ann Cathrin November Høibo, Jon Key, Studio Lenca, Lindsey Mendick, Navot Miller, Vanessa Raw, Benjamin Senior and Tori Wrånes.
Since 2019, the Carl Freedman Gallery has been located in the old Thanet Press building on Union Crescent, adjacent to Margate's Old Town. Previously a 1960s commercial establishment, the space spans 10,000 square foot and is also the base for Counter Editions fine art print business.
Carl Freedman Gallery consists of three gallery spaces on the lower floor which are open to the public during exhibitions. The Gallery programme include large-scale solo presentations of their artists as well as more expansive curated group shows; see website for exhibition details.
The Gallery is a short walk from Margate Train Station.
