Get out exploring in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate

In Thanet big skies beckon you to pull on your boots, or hop on your bike. Stunning sunsets, a gorgeous shoreline and superb trails equal year-round, al fresco explorations and fun.

Don't-miss the 32-mile (51.4km) Viking Coastal Trail cycling and walking route circling the Isle, past  chalk cliffs and along quiet lanes taking in the Turner Contemporary, Pugin's Grange, Minster Abbey and the coast path from Pegwell Bay along the way.

A network of footpaths trace trails alongside sumptuous scenery, intimate landscapes and welcoming pubs. Discover Thanet's history and culture as you stroll. In Ramsgate the self-guided Pugin Town Trail profiles the exquisite buildings designed by the famous architect and his family. Meanwhile, in the town there are three walking routes - Active Ramsgate. The Margate Heritage Trail reveals the resort’s history, threading past locations and attractions rich in reminders of days gone by.

The 4-mile (6.4km) Turner and Dickens Walk winds from Margate sites linked to the artist JMW Turner, to the places in Broadstairs associated with writer Charles Dickens.

The Broadstairs Town trail is a self-guided walk that will delight history detectives, while the illustrated boards provide clues to the resort’s past.

On a St. Peter’s Village Tour, a colourful cast of costumed characters brings the past vividly to life or join one of the entertaining trails delivered by Ramsgate Costumed Walks.
