12th October - 17th November 2018
Exciting news! We’re lucky enough to have been awarded a generous grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry, so will be bringing you a series of four FREE science and creative workshops called PLASTICS UNWRAPPED to explore the highly topical theme of ...you guessed it...plastic!
Scientists from the School of Physical Sciences, University of Kent will be delivering the sessions, which begin at the Nayland Rock Promenade Shelter, Margate, with an introduction to the problems that plastic can cause. These are followed by three exciting workshops full of hands-on activities and experiments at the iconic Dreamland Margate !
Following Discovery Planet’s usual schedule, weekly sessions will be available for pre-booked school groups on a Friday, and for the general public to drop into on a Saturday. Sessions take place on the hour every hour from 10am to 3pm (the last show starts at 3pm). Thanks to the Royal Society of Chemistry and Dreamland Margate 's incredible generosity it’s completely FREE to schools and the general public alike!
Here's how the schedule looks:
FRI 12th/SAT 13th October ‘What’s the Problem?’
FRI 19th/SAT 20th October ‘What is a plastic?’
FRI 2nd/SAT 3rd November ’Recycling’
FRI 16th/SAT 17th November ‘Plastic progress’
There’s no need to book on Saturdays, just turn up on the hour. It’s suitable for anyone from age 8-108 and the theme is developed over the weeks, so it's good to attend as many as you can, but if you can only make one, that's fine too. If you’d like to book your school group in for a Friday session, please contact Nikki of Discovery Planet at firstname.lastname@example.org
